Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support to the Controller and Accounting Managers. This position analyzes various accounting transactions and prepares monthly general ledger transactions in accordance with GAAP, while adhering to internal policies and procedures. The role requires someone who is detail-oriented, can work independently and communicate effectively.
Essential Functions:
- Reconcile, and maintain accurate records of depository, payments and disbursements activities.
- Record ad hoc bank transactions
- Monitor and analyze cash flow projections
- Reconcile and record monthly investment activities
- Create and post prepaid installments
- Register and maintain intangibles and fixed assets
- Prepare month-end accrual entries.
- Post bi-weekly payroll tax entries
- Maintain and update leases in LeaseCrunch and post monthly amortization entries.
- Assist with review of monthly financial results and propose correcting entries if applicable.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned.
- Assist with preparation of surveys.
- Prepare annual property tax filings.
- Participate in interim and annual audits by preparing PBC (prepared by client) items.
Additional:
- Serve as a backup for other accounting roles, as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is necessary.
- Minimum of three years’ progressively responsible experience as an accountant in a corporate setting.
- Possesses strong oral and written skills, as well as solid interpersonal skills; communicates effectively with internal and external clients.
- Exercises sound judgment and exhibits a strong critical thought process to make good decisions, with or without time constraints.
- Exhibits emotional intelligence and interacts effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Able to work collaboratively with others, is a team player and exhibits a positive attitude.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and planning skills, as well as an attention to detail.
- Exhibits solid time management skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines and deliverables, and is highly responsive to internal and external stakeholders’ needs and requests
- Demonstrates agility and is able to multi-task, as well as pivot to changing priorities, as circumstances warrant.
- Contributes to team efficiency by sharing knowledge and best practices.
