Hapag-Lloyd is seeking a Regional Compliance Officer to drive the effective implementation of our compliance management across Asia. In this strategic role, you will work closely with regional leadership and stakeholders to uphold compliance standards, manage regulatory affairs, and ensure adherence to laws governing anti-bribery, anti-corruption, competition law, fraud prevention, embargo, and sanctions. Additionally, you will front government relations and industry representation across the region.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Lead and oversee the implementation of Hapag-Lloyd’s compliance management system across Asia.
  • Advise regional and area management on compliance strategies to adhere to our Code of Ethics.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement compliance policies and procedures tailored to regional needs.
  • Provide compliance advisory services to business units to support operations while ensuring mitigation of compliance risks.
  • Strengthen compliance training, reporting, and, in corporation with Corporate Audit, internal investigations to promote awareness and adherence.
  • Manage and improve third-party compliance programs, ensuring due diligence and risk mitigation.
  • Managing legal proceedings derived from internal investigations or external enforcement actions;

Regulatory Affairs & Government Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies such as the Ministry of Transport, General Administration of Customs, local transportation departments, and customs authorities across Asia.
  • Represent Hapag-Lloyd in industry associations such as the World Shipping Council and EU Chamber of Commerce in Asia.
  • Participating in industry regulatory efforts in legislation processes across the region; and providing advisory services on regulatory matters, such as cabotage restrictions, freight rate filing, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years (ideally 8+ years) of experience in compliance program implementation in a Regional capacity.
  • Expertise in regulatory affairs and government relations, particularly in Asia.
  • Industry experience in shipping or logistics is a strong advantage.
  • Proven ability to partner with business leaders and drive cross-functional compliance initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin language (Spoken and Written) is highly essential to facilitate communication with key stakeholders in Asia.
