Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 175,000 boe/d. We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 2.0 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio.

We currently employ 570 people and including our valued contract staff, we are accountable for approximately 900 personnel.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Production Accounting, this role is an active and integral position within our Production Accounting team and is primarily responsible for the full cycle production accounting reporting. Other duties will include analysis of facility charges, royalties and addressing queries from partners and the joint venture accounting team. Special project opportunities may also be considered.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Full Cycle Production Accounting including:

  • Set up of master data including wells, market masters, facility charges & royalties.

  • Communication with operations on monthly volumes and changes.

  • Analysis of allocations, facility charges, royalties, and financial entries.

  • Reconciliation of revenue receivable accounts.

  • Preparing financial entries into Qbyte FM.

  • Review of non-crown royalty contracts and addressing owner queries.

  • Review of facility charge contracts and addressing joint venture changes.

  • Review and entry of 3rd party fees on assigned properties.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Primary Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of production accounting work experience.

  • Business Degree and/or CAPPA.

  • Strong experience in analyzing and evaluating non-crown royalty contracts.

  • Extensive knowledge of Metrix, Qbyte FM, Optix and Production Manager.

  • Experience with swing gas allocations.

  • Proficient in Excel including pivot tables and lookup formulas.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, while also working within a team environment.

  • Reliable and organized with the ability to manage a high-volume desk.
