What We're Looking For
We’re seeking a motivated Network Engineer to install, maintain, and troubleshoot networking and communication systems onsite at China Lake, CA. This role is well-suited for transitioning service members with 2–4 years of hands-on experience supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical environments.
Work Location & Schedule
This position follows a rotating travel schedule:
- Spend 6–10 weeks working onsite at China Lake, CA, followed by 2 weeks off at home to rest and recharge
- All travel and onsite accommodation expenses fully covered by PEAKE
- Daily per diem allowance for meals and incidental expenses. (Note: based on GSA rates and typically tax-free when aligned with federal travel guidelines; paid in addition to wages to reduce out-of-pocket costs and simplify expense tracking.)
Clearance Requirement
- Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret) required
What You’ll Do
Installation & Setup
- Rack, stack, and power up networking equipment
- Install, cable, and configure routers and switches in newly constructed infrastructure environments
Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve network issues involving routers, switches, and connectivity
- Escalate complex issues when necessary
Customer Service
- Deliver timely and clear technical support with a customer-first approach
- Assist end users with basic configuration changes and common technical issues
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of network configurations and service activities
- Write clear and concise service call reports for internal use
What You’ll Need to Succeed Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Cisco or similar networking equipment
- Familiarity with cabling, racking, stacking, and power setups
- Network troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
- High school diploma required
- Basic proficiency with MS Office and networking tools
Additional Qualifications
- Technical certification (e.g., CCNA) preferred
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
