GENERAL PURPOSE
The Network Engineer works to support and maintain both the local computer network as well as connectivity to the internet. The Network Engineer will support the needs of both staff and guests, and facilitate seamless use of Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo Corporation’s (FCZC) applications and resources. This will fulfill our mission and vision by maintaining agile and reliable access to both local and internet applications and resources, improving animal care and support, enhancing education and conservation, facilitating our organization’s work with outside partners, and helping secure our IT infrastructure from cyberattack and other threats.
Full-Time employees receive our comprehensive compensation package which includes 100% employer paid Medical/Dental/Vision, Employee Assistance Program, 401k, 10 Paid Holidays, Paid Sick and Paid Vacation time on an accrued basis. The pay range for this position is $37.38 - $39.25 per hour. Offers will be based on the successful candidate's experience
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Install, maintain and support computer network systems including switches, Wi-Fi Access Points, cabling, software, IT equipment closets, VPNs, firewalls, routers, and other physical hardware.
• Support and troubleshoot network equipment to resolve hardware or software issues.
• Monitor network and server systems to improve network performance for users, computer systems and applications.
• Document and track all support requests and resolutions using a ticketing system.
• Communicate with management and other employees during network outages and service issues.
• Maintain and update diagrams and blueprints of network infrastructure.
• Document support procedures, equipment and software inventories, and maintain switch configuration backup files.
• Work with other IT staff to establish and maintain network, data, and user security policies.
• Provide support and assistance to users on network systems, computers and applications.
• Track and maintain FCZC’s IT networking assets, status, and licensing requirements.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve recurring issues.
• Collaborate with other Information Technology staff to ensure efficient delivery of IT services.
• Safely operate a vehicle for business purposes including but not limited to driving between FCZC facilities and offsite locations.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support team and organizational goals.
EDUCATION AND JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• High School GED or HS Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field preferred.
• Two (2) years of full-time relevant work experience as Network Engineer or similar role required.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred.
• California driver's license, valid vehicle insurance, enrolled in the CA Employer Pull Notice program and successful completion of the FCZC Drivers Training Program required.
• Excellent written and verbal English communications skills required.

• Hand and finger dexterity is sufficient for typing and other administrative tasks.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to walk between work locations (up to ¼ mile between work sites, average one to three total miles walking each day).
• Climb and work from ladders on equipment and work on equipment on floor and under desks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This position functions both indoors and outdoors, with possible exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather, Zoo environments and external events
• The employee may be exposed to environmental substances such as dust/dirt from Zoo grounds.
• The position works in close proximity to Zoo animals.
• Regular local travel and occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
• Ability to work overtime, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
