Position Goal

Ensures Hughston HR compliance standards in assigned area of responsibility is applied consistently across the Hughston footprint with each separate entity; trains and coaches as needed and ensures all students, employees have a positive experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Recommends HR policies and objectives for consideration.
  • Responsible for employee relations and the overall employee experience.
  • Assists CHRO with the planning, strategic goals, and objectives of the HR department as assigned.
  • Assists in training supervisory personnel to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures and employment related laws.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, providing information and interpretation to management as requested. Consults CHRO as needed.
  • Practices open door policy to encourage employees to discuss any grievances.
  • Provide management assistance to all supervisory personnel, assisting them in performing personnel management activities (when needed, example disciplinary process)
  • Manages each step of Hughston Disciplinary Process; ensures process is followed correctly. Seeks out appropriate assistance as necessary.
  • Review and assist in resolving grievances submitted by employees, investigate/document as needed. Communicates regularly.
  • Conducts a continuing study of HR policies, programs and practices in area of assigned responsibility to keep the organization abreast with current practice and informed of new developments.
  • Uses independent judgement to make Occurrence Portal notifications to insurance/general liability.
  • Responsible for annual audits for all entities (I-9, Bulletin Board, W/C panels, AAAHC)
  • Responsible for summer internship program, ensures approval by finance, distribute application, distribute criteria for selection (direct family members get first consideration)
  • Provides necessary information to front line management and employees such as�workshops, manuals, employee handbooks and standardized reports.
  • Represents employer at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Understands legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the HR function (OSHA< EEO< ERISA, Wage/hour etc...) Administers functions compliant with all rules and procedures (state/federal etc�etc�)
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality always.
  • Oversees the coordination/management of employee programs such as; Nurse of the Year, Employee of the Quarter, Hughston Day, Hospital Week, etc...
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Assists and takes initiative in handling issues of non-routine nature pertaining to assigned responsibility.
  • Oversee Hughston Education (management notification process) and mangages affiliation agreement coordination/COI with schools.
  • Serves as back up to other HR Managers (compensation/benefits-recruitment) when needed.
  • Assists CHRO in anticipating needs; ensuring meeting data regarding HR is prepared timely and submitted accurately. (board meeting data, compliance meeting data, example/data support)
  • Responsible for managing the HR functions of HCP, survey monkey and others that pertain to the employee experience.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned (summer hire; routine audits, events)

Experience: One to two years of management level experience in a human resource department. Medical/health care setting preferred.

Education:

Required:

  • Associates degree or equivalent of two years of secondary education required.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor�s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.

HR certification preferred.

Special Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be detail and goal oriented and be able to work well in a fast pace environment; multi-task.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) within all levels of Company.
  • Must be knowledgeable of computer database programs and software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Must have working knowledge and have the ability to interpret and apply general policies, procedures, Human Resource Laws and general employment practices.
  • Must have the ability to exercise independent decision-making.
  • Must have good professional judgement in performance of daily duties.
