POSITION: Health & Safety / HR Specialist - 2nd Shift

Position Summary

The HS/HR Specialist supports employee health, safety, and overall workplace experience at Flagstone Foods’ North Carolina production and warehouse facilities. This role helps carry out human resources tasks, ensures workplace safety, assists with employee relations and benefits, and maintains compliance with health and safety regulations. The Specialist also handles administrative duties like employee records and HR system updates, and reports to HS/HR Managers.

Essential Functions

  • Provide safety and on-the-job (OTJ) training for employees and managers.
  • Assist with job hazard assessments and workplace safety improvements.
  • Support employee involvement in health and safety efforts.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and audits.
  • Help others fulfill safety responsibilities, including supervisors and safety committee members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and assist with:
    • Incident reports
    • Safety committee meetings (especially 2nd shift)
    • EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) training and orientation
  • Lead new hire orientations and assist with employee recognition programs.
  • Assist with HR tasks like benefits, compensation, leave, discipline, employee relations, and training.
  • Answer employee questions and escalate more complex issues when needed.
  • Support recruitment efforts and track candidates in the HR system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in direct Occupational Health & Safety, Behavioral Safety and HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Currently, or ability to certify in CPR/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other safety certification, preferred.
  • LEAN manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • SHRM-CP credential preferred.

FLSA Designation: This position is a Salaried Exempt and not eligible for overtime.

Work Location: Robersonville, NC – travel expected less than 10%
