DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES


Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources will be a strategic leader responsible for aligning HR practices with business objectives, fostering a positive work environment, and driving talent management strategies across our distribution sites. This role will partner closely with senior leadership and operational managers to enhance organizational effectiveness, drive employee engagement, support the creation of standardized processes, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support business goals and objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on organizational design, talent management, and change management initiatives.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts to ensure the right talent is in place to meet operational demands.
  • Oversee recruitment and talent acquisition processes to attract top talent.
  • Act as a trusted advisor in resolving complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent treatment.
  • Promote a positive work culture through proactive communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Drive performance management processes to enhance employee development.
  • Manage employee development programs to enhance skills and career growth.
  • Support managers in setting performance goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with best practices and industry standards.
  • Oversees the development, process, and input of Personnel Action Forms for new hires, changes, transfers, merit increases and terminations.
  • Review/revision of written job descriptions and evaluates jobs to see if there are any changes that need to be made.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management to solve complex employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion.
  • Provide data-driven leadership that supports the organization with actionable insights to enable data-driven decisions
  • Travel throughout the Business Unit as required/needed to perform any additional duties as needed.

 

LEADERSHIP 

  • Champions and fosters employee involvement, high collaboration and teamwork.  Hands on leadership; regularly engages with all employees. Upholds company culture and values.
  • Establishes and frequently reviews developmental action plans that promote positive growth for the individual and strengthens succession planning initiatives.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommends promotion, wage increases and other performance related actions such as verbal and written counseling notices, discipline, and termination of employment.
  • Strong leadership skills including a collaborative, decisive, and engaging leadership style.  Builds strong, trust-based, positive relationships with internal and external constituents. 
  • Seeks out and listens to others’ ideas and suggestions.  Provides clear and concise feedback to direct reports, peers and senior leaders.
  • Ability to effect change and implement new ideas to support business operations.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in HR management
  • Proven experience in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS, payroll software such as ADP Workforce Now, and applicant tracking systems.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience in distribution environments is preferred.

 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to travel domestically up to up to 50%
