General Summary
Create and maintain a data warehouse environment capable of serving the needs of both the Institutional Research and Information Management (IRIM) Department and the campus. Serve as project leader for designated IRIM projects. Create internet-based user input and query interfaces for creating flexible, user-defined data marts from a data warehouse. Design and develop effective ways to boost data warehouse performance. Act as liaison between IRIM and IT technical staff.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide database administrative functions in building a data warehouse.
- Design fully integrated Intranet systems that will include applications, database, networks, and related systems.
- Develop web-based interface with data warehouse to provide flexibility for the users in creating data marts.
- Evaluate and recommend new reporting tools for IRIM.
- Research and improve reporting mechanisms.
- Prepare documentation to provide user support for new IRIM systems and operations procedures.
- Participate as an integral member of the technical team in scope definition and feasibility, analysis, design and implementation phases.
- Structure and implement database to optimize data access and security.
- Maintain data security and integrity by implementing system access standards and procedures.
- Consult with users or design team to identify and document software/system purpose, workflow issues and output needs and to determine overall IRIM systems requirements and specifications.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of SunGard SCT Banner system, including system documentation, entity-relationship diagrams and foreign key relationships sufficient to support data warehouse development.
- Perform related Departmental duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of database design and maintenance, and user input and query interface design that is typically acquired through the completion of a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field, or a combination of formal education and experience is necessary.
Expert level of skills in computer programming and analysis in a distributed systems environment typically acquired through at least six years progressively more responsible and complex experience is necessary.
A minimum of three years experience designing, maintaining and modifying databases and related software is required.
Familiarity with dimensional modeling to continue development of a data warehouse is required.
Familiarity with UNIX operating system ORACLE databases, and industry-standard web applications development tools such as PHP is required.
Familiarity with source code management system, such as subversion is required.
