Job Summary

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing quarterly costing for multiple entities, and standardizing files across all states, and executing monthly inventory valuation. Reporting to VP Accounting, the Cost Accountant will conduct detailed P&L analysis and work closely with inventory and operations teams to support data-driven decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities  

• Perform monthly inventory valuation for all inventory accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
• Conduct P&L review and normalization of trailing 6-month data to ensure accuracy and consistency in cost reporting.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and bill of materials, comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and issue variance reports.
• Prepare costs for new SKUs as new products are launched or existing products are modified, ensuring accurate and timely costing integration.
• Forecast changes in production costs (increases/decreases), supported with documented analysis in costing files.
• Track and document all Harvest Cycle activities, ensuring accurate capture of timing, inputs, and yields.
• Perform P&L allocation analysis by department and square footage; standardize methodologies across all operating states.
• Conduct labor studies to assess and allocate labor costs at the product level.
• Prepare and distribute quarterly costing reports by the 15th business day following the end of each quarter.
• Deliver management reports detailing key cost drivers and comparative profitability insights.
• Monitor and report on square footage utilization, identifying opportunities for improved space efficiency.

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in costing accounting, manufacturing finance, FP&A, or similar role.
• Strong problem-solving mindset; agile and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced knowledge of statistics, and accounting concepts
• Proven ability to identify business issues and recommend effective solutions.
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems; Power BI experience strongly preferred.
