We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst I.

This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work.

The Application Systems Analyst supports and administers a range of technology platforms, applications, and solutions within the Applications Development team scope. This is a technical and analytical role developing, designing, and/or supporting applications that serve DEQ employees, partners, and stakeholders. This role carries out development support tasks for solutions and troubleshoots issues. This includes maintenance, modification, and deployment of complex inter-related web and desktop-based enterprise applications and systems. This position works closely with DEQ business units, IT management, peers, and technicians, DIT global administrators, and private industry partners to efficiently and securely implement business and technical requirements that drive DEQ towards a modern and cloud-based ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:
• Platform administration of the enterprise reporting solution and associated reporting tools. This includes the deployment of content to production environments and maintaining server software and tools. Troubleshoot reported issues and collaborate with developers and administrators on maintenance tasks.
• Provide direct customer support and consultation to DEQ business units and partners on the various technology platforms at multiple levels. Monitor support requests, complete tasks, and respond to client needs and customer reported issues. Prioritize tasks and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Develop and maintain various solutions hosted in a range of technology platforms to include e-payments solutions, custom HTML and JavaScript pages, and M365 based applications.
• Collaborate and partner with application developers, architects, and administrators on the team, and with cross functional IT teams developing full end to end solutions that are secure, scalable, and maintainable.

About the Division:
DIT at DEQ provides IT leadership, services, and consultation to DEQ Administration, Offices, and all DEQ Divisions.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Experience in problem identification and integration of technical skills to address and solve issues which includes client needs assessments, evaluating hardware and software requirements. 

  • Systems analysis, design, modeling, configuration, and programming experience within platforms like M365, Service Now, and Power Platform. 

  • Demonstrated excellent communication, analytical and organization skills with the ability to translate business and technical ideas and issues into clear and concise language.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution,

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development,

OR

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
