You’ll work alongside some of the best minds in the business, delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance wireless solutions for some of the region’s most prominent organisations.

As a Wireless Network Engineer at Datacom, you will be responsible for the implementation, and support of wireless networking solutions across a variety of customer environments. From high-density office deployments to critical infrastructure sites, you’ll play a key role in delivering robust, secure wireless experiences that keep businesses connected and productive.

The role is based in Christchurch. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best! 

What You’ll Do

  • Deploy and maintain enterprise wireless networks (Wi-Fi 5/6)
  • Conduct wireless site surveys, predictive surveys and spectrum analysis (using Ekahau or similar)
  • Configure and troubleshoot wireless LAN controllers, access points, and wireless policies
  • Work with platforms including Cisco Meraki, Cisco WLC, Cisco ISE, Aruba Networks, Ruckus and an understanding of Extreme/Motorolla would be beneficial
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams on wireless projects, upgrades, and CVE patching
  • Develop and maintain documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards
  • Support wireless security initiatives, including 802.1X, RADIUS, and segmentation policies
  • Stay current with wireless standards and emerging technologies

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in enterprise wireless networking
  • Deep knowledge of RF design, wireless protocols (802.11 standards), and Wi-Fi security
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco or Aruba wireless ecosystems
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g. Ekahau, Cisco Prime, Airwave, Aruba Central)
  • Certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, CCNP Wireless, or Aruba ACMP are highly desirable
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and projects
