Summary of Duties

The Systems Analyst will work as part of a team of professionals with comprehensive responsibility for support and management of Rhodes State’s enterprise network and core computing systems. This position includes responsibility for functions associated with the efficient implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure and applications as well as managing the helpdesk employees/student workers.  Due to the nature of managing systems, some early morning, evening, and weekend hours will be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Work directly with the senior team members within IT to assist in the support and management of infrastructure processes consisting of routers, switches, firewalls, file, print, AD/Exchange, VMware, web, SAN, NAC, Certificates and other various technologies. 
  • Assist with the administration and troubleshooting of the local network infrastructure including hardware and software. 
  • Support the classroom technician, configuration and troubleshooting in the classrooms.
  • Provide technical support for the desktop PC/laptop environment. Support includes hardware and software installations, troubleshooting, repair, documentation, and end-user support.
  • Manage the selection, scheduling, and training of work-study students who help with the daily operations of the computer labs across campus.
  • Assist in the review, identification and presentation of hardware and software applications to ensure that the technology capabilities are responsive to the needs of the College. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and standards in order to identify areas for future development or enhancement.
  • Comply with the organization’s architectural standards and implement quality improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills & Abilities

Required: 

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in daily maintenance of servers and infrastructure applications, or the equivalent in education and experience in demonstrated expertise.  
  • Advanced working skills with Windows / Linux servers, operating systems and related technologies, including backup technologies, performance measurement and management, security, patching, backups and system management.  
  • Must be able and willing to perform enterprise system administration tasks as both a primary and secondary responsibility.  
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare project plans and proposals.   
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures used in IT and how they affect assigned systems.  
  • Must be able to be responsive to customer needs and organize projects.  
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills; a self-motivator, an appreciation for working with all individuals, minimal supervision, and an interest in lifelong learning.  
  • Extron Certification is preferred but can be acquired after hiring.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of virtualization and SAN technologies.
  • Experience with Office 365 applications.
  • Experience with Intune or System Center. 
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server administration. 
  • Experience with Audio Video Equipment. 
  • Knowledge of Office 365 administration.  

Education & Certifications

Required

  • Associate's degree in a computer related field.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree.
