About the role


We are looking for a planning and environment lawyer to join our Queensland Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) team.

This is a junior lawyer position only (1+ years of PAE in planning and environmental law is essential). 

Nationally, we are a Band 1 Chambers ranked environment and planning team, who acts for private and government clients in equal measure.   Our work covers some of the biggest renewable projects in Australia, major infrastructure including rail and gas pipelines, statutory planning and all forms of Planning and Environmental Court work.

Our team is lead by partners Karen Trainor and Wendy Evans, who are supported by six senior solicitors – so you will have ready access to multiple seniors for mentoring and learning. 

We need dynamic, enthusiastic and specialist junior practitioners who want to excel in this area of law.   We want the future leaders of this industry, to join our team.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 1 year PAE in planning and environment law
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and environment, critically with Planning and Environment Court experience
  • Strong drafting skills with proven attention to detail and an enquiring mind

In addition to this, we are looking for someone who has:

  • An ability to apply natural creativity and intelligence to problem solving
  • A high level of attention to detail and an ability to draft clear, commercially orientated, and incisive advice
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills for building client relationships
  • A collegiate mindset and positive attitude, which prioritises respect for peers and collaborative team work
  • A focus on providing an outstanding service to clients
