Description

Position is responsible for day-by-day payroll processing for Canadian tax entities, supporting multiple locations.  Responsibilities include entering payroll information for time and attendance, taxes, deductions, wage garnishments, liens, and payroll adjustments.  Ensures compliance of federal, and provincial taxes. Verifies that associates are set up appropriately so that regulatory requirements are met.  



Responsibilities
  • Processes payroll for Canadian tax entities, pay cycles and locations including receipt and management of associate’s work hours, earnings, deductions, and taxes in compliance with federal and provincial legislation and regulations. 
  • Reviews, verifies, prepares, and audits payroll for transmission.  Ensures transmission of payroll to agent is accurate, on time and in compliance with federal and provincial employment and tax regulations. 
  • Ensures associate level tax withholdings are coded in accordance with provincial requirements.
  • Enters general payroll deductions including but not limited to wage garnishments and liens. 
  • Responds to all garnishments, tax levies, child support orders and liens in accordance with federal and provincial requirements. 
  • Ensures all associate transfers are set up accurately, including tax implications. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 



Qualifications

Minimum Education and Work Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 4 years payroll processing experience required. 
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll standards and practices is required
  • Proven knowledge in payroll deductions to include garnishments, liens, etc. 
  • Proven proficient analytical abilities regarding reconciliation of payroll data. 
  • Proven ability to manually calculate gross to net checks. 
  • Proven advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Ability to backup Payroll Analyst and Sr Payroll Analyst. 
  • Ability to import, upload, process and transmit payroll electronically. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of all rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and record keeping ensuring compliance with federal, provincial and corporate requirements. 
  • Ability to maintain highest confidentiality level. 
  • Must be extremely attentive to detail. 
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines. 
  • Ability to interact with internal and external contacts to exchange or obtain information. 
  • Ability to perform work in a self-directed, team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, including Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Experience with UKG payroll systems preferred.
