As the successful candidate as the Network Systems Analyst, you will contribute to Regional District of Central Okanagan IT networks, systems, and security across a wide range of technologies. You will collaborate with the Manager of Information Services on systems architecture including disaster recovery, business continuity, and security protection systems.


You will:


  1. Plan, design, document, implement, monitor, and maintain all approved IT infrastructure, including but not limited to:
  • Server operating systems and services both on premise and in the cloud to ensure optimal performance, high availability, and a secure environment.
  • Security management and monitoring, including network, Microsoft 365, server, end point, file systems, remote access (VPN), and user authentication systems.
  • Virtualization infrastructure including highly available clusters of virtual networks, virtual machines, and virtual data storage.
  • Backup and recovery systems, including disaster recovery, testing, and risk mitigation.
  • Utilize storage systems to optimize snapshots, storage space and network traffic in a highly available environment.
  • Cloud services and technologies, including Office365 software and services, as well as Azure platform technologies integrated with distributed Active Directory architecture.
  1. Proactively identify risks and issues as well as troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems and perform assessments, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
  2. Evaluate and research solutions based on factors including business needs, user requirements, technological alternatives, cost, feasibility, and security/privacy impacts.
  3. Assist with development of RFP/RFQ technical specifications and scoring of vendor submissions.
  4. Participate in the development and support the application of IT related policies and administrative directives.
  5. Provide after-hours on-call support for critical business systems and emergency operations including the water and wastewater communications and systems infrastructure.
  6. Responsible for meeting room AV technology to support remote meetings and live streaming of public Regional Board meetings.
  7. Provide functional direction, mentoring and training of daily tasks to junior and relief IT team members, and contractors as applicable.
  8. Assist as directed to ensure the RDCO achieves identified benchmarks, implementation of technologies, and associated processes, required to strengthen the organization's security.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

To be qualified for this role, will need to have a minimum of five years' experience working in a Microsoft enterprise environment, as well as a four-year information technology degree (or related field). An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. The ideal candidate has experience operating on a team in an environment with 25-100 virtual machines that support roughly 200 users as well as experience working with SCADA systems. In addition, you will need to have good organizational and problem-solving skills, tact and discretion while dealing with sensitive information, and have excellent communication. You will need to be able to meet and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance and have a valid Class 5 BC Driver's license.


This is a CUPE 338 position that works Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with an on-call rotation. This position pays $51.74 per hour and requires some flexibility on weekends to meet operational requirements.
