Seeking onsite, full time network engineer for the University of New Hampshire Durham campus, primary responsibilities include maintaining, configuring and troubleshooting wired edge and wireless infrastructure.
Job Duties:
Install and maintain complex tools and system to integrate with existing network infrastructure.
Perform network maintenance projects such as software or hardware upgrades, network expansion and data collection activities.
Manage network protocol structure and configure network equipment for effective use of the licensed radio frequency
Provide network design to support daily configuration archiving, and asset inventory for over 900 Ethernet switches and 6000 wireless access points.
Conduct analysis of network performance, network reliability and identify opportunity for improvement
Conduct service visits to customer sites and consult with users to provide cost effective solutions to meet client’s needs.
Provide on-going support and training to address clients’ needs relating to networking and security systems.
Advise the university community on the purchase of network technology that is compatible with the university’s current and future network infrastructure.,
Lead next generation wireless design efforts on technical solutions for complex projects, integrating multiple technologies with broad strategic impact across multiple business and technology areas.
Provide network architecture and design validation, investigating new transport technologies, network management systems, and techniques.
Forecast future network needs and prepare detailed budgetary estimates for strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with vendors to ensure new proposals comply with current standards and are compatible with existing infrastructure.
Develop standards that produce secure, highly available, scalable and robust network and wireless designs.
Collaborate with cyber security to propose and implement client security policy roles and procedures.
Provide Network Access, Control enforcement, develop on-boarding and security procedures and best practices for the Internet of Things (IOT) and other net-workable devices,
Monitor and maintain all network rooms across 6 campuses to ensure high availability of power, cooling, and connectivity for all network gear.
Utilize advanced troubleshooting tools to resolve performance issues efficiently.
Provide technical leadership, coordination and hands-on management of outage restoration efforts including the organizing and leading of joint outage conference bridges with customer, vendors, and partner teams
Maintain proficiency with project management tools and methodologies to ensure continued process improvement.
Provide leadership to projects and project teams, develop project plans and specifications, coordinating project team efforts, develop and maintain project documentation.
Prepare reports using network data to assist with short and long-range planning.
Develop project documentation, including statements of work, detailed project plans, architecture designs, detailed implementation plans, deployment plans, project test plans, and operational training material,
Supervise, mentor and train junior staff members in application and system functionality.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience, Associate's degree and six years, or combination of education and experience equal to eight years.
Knowledge of radio frequency theory, wave propagation and antenna fundamentals CWNA Certified Wireless Network Administrator CWDP Certified Wireless Design Professional CWAP Certified Wireless Analysis Professional CWSP Certified Wireless Security Professional

Compensation Pay Range:
