Position Overview:

  • Support wired and wireless networks within a Cisco environment.
  • Develop a roadmap for local area network (LAN) evolution.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Systems to segment operational technology traffic for security.
  • Manage data center and manufacturing firewalls, load balancers, and security appliances.
  • Support SDWAN environment (Velocloud/Meraki).
  • Monitor network performance and ensure security compliance.
  • Provide daily support for voice and video systems across US sites.
  • Location: On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Your Day to Day as a Network Engineer:

  • Implement, manage, and troubleshoot network services in a Cisco environment.
  • Build and maintain LAN service evolution roadmap for administration and operational technology networks.
  • Provide network support for on-premise and cloud data centers (Cisco Nexus, Microsoft Azure).
  • Manage firewalls, load balancers, and security appliances (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, NetScaler).
  • Support SDWAN including updates, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor hardware lifecycle and propose refresh projects.
  • Perform daily network management, performance monitoring, inventory, and backup (AKiPS, ThousandEyes, Catalyst Center).
  • Collaborate with information security to protect LAN from malicious activity.
  • Provide technical design, implementation, documentation, and operational leadership.
  • Support voice and video systems for US sites daily.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or 4 years equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years overall IT experience; 3+ years managing and deploying network devices (routers, switches, load balancers, access points, wireless controllers).
  • Experience with routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP) and cloud networking (Azure, AWS).
  • Network troubleshooting skills including wire captures (Wireshark, Splunk).
  • Experience with network segmentation to reduce risk.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, floor plans, and checklists.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Professional communication skills; comfortable working in manufacturing settings.

 

  • Must be a U.S. Citzen
  • Ability to obtain DOE Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, VeloCloud routers, Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Incident and problem management experience.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center.
  • CMMC compliance experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for network diagrams.
  • Cisco/Microsoft Teams voice and AV experience.

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
