Summary

 Perform accounting functions for Daybreak Foods and New Day Farms. These responsibilities are a part of the mill accounting team for all locations primarily consisting of reporting on grain purchases and usage. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain corn and soybean position report for all Daybreak mill locations.
  • Calculate and analyze cost of feed by barn weekly.
  • Report on feed usage by barn weekly.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure weekly payment for corn purchases is calculated accurately.
  • Prepare and track monthly inventory to ensure accurate financial statements.
  • Ensure customers are invoiced for manure deliveries monthly.
  • Maintain and routinely track land leases and invoice customers for rent payments.
  • Maintain documentation as required by state departments of agriculture.
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation required for grain license renewals.
  • Assist with preparation of grain audit workpapers.
  • Various monthly accruals and reconciliations.
  • Responsible for building relationships and ensuring proper communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other departmental related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

 Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business or a related discipline preferred.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and terminology.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Possess an understanding of office workflow.
  • Able to work independently and effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Polished and flexible interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve objectives.
  • Attention to detail and problem solver.

Physical Demands

Sit, use keyboard, use fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

Clean, temperature-controlled environment. Noise level is low. No personal protective equipment needed.
