Tijuana Flats is seeking a passionate, self-motivated, flexible, and driven Human Resources Generalist to support our 96 Restaurants across Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Key to this role is the ability to drive a culture of superior support to our team members and managers, and implementing and maintaining operational excellence in all aspects. This role builds trusted, collaborative relationships across the entire organization to ensure the effectiveness of HR and a culture of positive employee relations to drive a best-in-class culture and employee experience.

Essential Functions

Employee Engagement, Recognition & Culture  

  • Proactively engages and effectively communicates with leadership and management personnel, inquiring about any HR related issues and services, training, or employee needs and providing ongoing support and consultation regarding all HR activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of employee recognition programs, ensuring they are meaningful and aligned with company culture.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, focus groups, and feedback mechanisms, analyzing trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and implement communication and retention strategies that promote an inclusive, high-performance workplace.
  • Utilize engagement data to proactively address workplace concerns, collaborating with leadership to improve employee experience.
  • Conduct intake for employee concerns and grievances, escalating matters to the appropriate HR member as needed
  • Lead data collection and reporting efforts related to employee satisfaction, turnover, engagement, and compliance trends.
  • Support leadership in fostering a culture of appreciation through recognition programs, contests, and events.

Performance Management

  • Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on personnel practices, policies, and employment laws.
  • Partner with leadership to address repeat or severe policy violations, offering proactive learning and development solutions.
  • Oversee the administration of performance review processes, ensuring alignment with company goals and best practices.
  • Coordinate job evaluations, ensuring FLSA classification compliance and working closely with leadership on role structures.
  • Facilitate and track performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback loops, and development planning.

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legal compliance.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook, orientation guide policies, and procedures to reflect current regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA classification, wage and hour laws, and anti-discrimination policies.
  • Respond to employment verification requests, department of labor compliance forms, and other regulatory inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a human resource information system (HRIS) that meets the organization’s personnel data needs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee access to various HR Technology platforms for our management teams.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other relevant field and 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a one to two-year span
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
