Description

Mt. Olive Pickle Company is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Crop Management Accountant (Agriculture Accountant) to play a key role in optimizing the use of our raw materials. In this role, you’ll be responsible for tracking and reporting crop usage, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in how we manage one of our most vital resources.

Job Summary:

Tracking and reporting on crop usage; making the most out of our raw materials. Develop new methods in which to capture accurate data in a timely fashion.  


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Thorough understanding of all crop inventory transactions, how the crop is accounted for in our factory.
  • Responsible for Month-end and Year-end closing as it relates to procurement and inventory department.
  • Oversees daily RMDS process (RMDS = raw material records).
  • Works with all aspects of RMDS and looks for ways to improve the process.
  • Investigates crop usage and explains any variance to standard. 
  • Investigates shrink transactions.
  • Works closely with the accounting team.
  • Provides routine feedback to various departments on findings, reported in a fashion that is easy to understand and actionable. 

Other Duties:

  • Not initially, this person could manage up to 2 people. 
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Exercises normal supervisory functions over assigned area.

Personal Computer, Standard office equipment.


Physical Demands

Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.

Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform and activity such as: preparing and analyzing data figures: transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.


Work Environment

Office Conditions and warehouse conditions. Inside warehouse is subject to a wide seasonal temperature variations.



Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a business-related field (e.g., Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain); or, an associate degree in any field plus a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in areas such as business operations, accounting, or inventory management required.  
  • Requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel – proven record of working with complex data in big spreadsheets.  
  • Ability to gather info and present to large groups, including Senior Leadership Team.  
  • Must be able to forecast, recognize trends, possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to drive results.  
  • Requires resourcefulness; willingness to ask questions, get involved, and find solutions.
