The Tax Initialization Accountant will be responsible for applying a strong background in tax strategy, accounting knowledge and a passion for helping small to midsize businesses succeed to Uplinq clients. The ideal candidate will be adept at bridging the gap from bookkeeping, sales and onboarding to tax. Their accounting skills will be honed to recognize errors and correct them.  They will be adept at recognizing potential tax strategy opportunities to expand our client business (upsell).

About The Role

This Tax Initialization Accountant will work with the Tax, Bookkeeping and Onboarding teams, as part of the Uplinq Tax Department. Your primary focus will be to help finalize financials to handoff clients to the Tax team for Compliance work. This person will need to develop the best strategies to expedite this process.  Next the Tax Initialization Accountant will work with the Onboarding team to help standardize the process in handing bookkeeping off to Tax Onboarding.  Ultimately the goal will also be to review all returns for possible tax strategies and prepare clients for upsell opportunities. 

The Tax Initialization Accountant plays a vital role in the UPLINQ experience, as this team member is expected to first expedite the Bookkeeping and Onboarding handoff to Tax processes.  Then this person will be expected to catch the vast majority of unique strategies and processes required in a client’s tax product fulfillment. Our ideal candidate:

• Analyzes financials for errors and helps to rectify them to increase the Bookkeeping throughput.  As a part of this process, will train and mentor bookkeeping staff members on changes needed to create better tax financials and the reasoning behind the adjustments.
• Effectively works to train Onboarding staff on tax needs and help to improve the Bookkeeping Onboarding to Tax Onboarding experience.
• Provides implementation support: Prioritize the review of tax returns in onboarding for proper COA set up and adjust books to create appropriate financials for tax. Apply appropriate Upsell strategy in onboarding as added value to the client. Assist in preparation and review of tax returns
• Monitors compliance and updates: Keep abreast of changing tax laws and regulations, advising clients of necessary adjustments to maintain compliance and optimize tax benefits.
• Able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing ongoing support and advice on tax-related matters.
• Takes initiative to monitor and analyze the effectiveness of implemented tax strategies, providing clients with insights and recommendations for further optimization.

Here are some examples of projects that you could own in this role:

• Develop SOP's that bridge the gap from Bookkeeping, Tax and Onboarding teams to ensure more seamless workflows.
• Make final changes to financials to send on to Tax team.  This involves applying your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze and rectify any tax and bookkeeping issues. This includes identifying discrepancies, devising a comprehensive action plan to address these issues, and either executing the plan yourself or overseeing its implementation to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes.
• Assist in training Bookkeeping team of standard policy changes needed and implement the same for better tax financials.
• Design and implement comprehensive chart of account setups for new clients, ensuring seamless integration with Tax.
• Lead troubleshooting initiatives, enhancing functionality and user experience.
