Director of Human Resources
Location: Lakewood, CO, Hybrid
Target Salary: $105,000- $125,000 per year

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is seeking a Director of Human Resources to join our team as a key leader in a senior leadership role, working in a hybrid capacity. In this position, you will collaborate with the Executive Team and other key stakeholders across the institution to evolve the HR model, embracing adaptive leadership, servant leadership, and a strategic vision.
The ideal candidate will lead and inspire a dedicated staff of HR professionals, managing all functions of Human Resources, including HR Operations, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Management, Employee Culture, and Total Rewards. As a thought leader, you will be responsible for developing, evaluating, and implementing people strategies, principles, policies, and objectives to support both our administrative and teaching workforce, ensuring alignment with the institution's overall goals while motivating and empowering staff to achieve excellence. Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the HR team in overseeing all stages of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to retirement, fostering a supportive and empowering environment where the team can thrive and provide exceptional service to the RMCAD community.
- Uphold the strategic vision by developing and executing innovative HR strategies that align with RMCAD’s strategic goals, drive organizational effectiveness, enhance talent development, and deliver a positive employee experience.
- Be a champion of culture by cultivating a vibrant, inclusive workplace where every employee feels valued, respected, and supported, fostering engagement and well-being.
- Oversee payroll, benefits, compensation, and compliance functions, ensuring accuracy and operational efficiency through operational excellence.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent through strategic recruitment, seamless onboarding, performance management, and ongoing professional development initiatives as a talent advocate.
- Offer trusted advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices, while providing expert counsel to leadership on organizational design, change management, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with leadership to address organizational challenges and capitalize on opportunities related to people and culture, continuously striving to ensure RMCAD remains a competitive and desirable employer.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years experience in progressively responsible HR leadership roles. Experience serving as an HR Director in a higher education environment preferred.
- Advanced proficiency/expert knowledge in employee relations, workforce planning, talent management, Kronos, Paycor, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Benefits Websites, Employee Navigator, and other HR systems
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field. Post graduate education or training is preferred.
- Experience in HR auditing and familiarity with IPEDS preferred.
- Demonstrated ability collaborating with senior-level leadership to develop, implement and sustain HR programs.
- Proven experience in workforce planning, change management, organizational design, talent management, employee relations, and HR systems.
- Must reside in the Denver, CO area or be willing to relocate.
- Proven track record of building a team, leading, and influencing; exceptional collaboration, relationships, and consultative skills with demonstrated success managing partnerships with internal and external contacts at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated experience driving process improvement.
- Strong leadership qualities and skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff. Proven ability to lead by sharing a common vision, gaining buy-in, building trust and coaching.
- Demonstrated experience developing and using systems and analytics to understand trends, establish strategic HR priorities, build compelling use cases, and drive sound decision-making.
